School District 72 is excited to offer a district pilot Liq’wala/Kwak’wala Kindergarten Immersion Program for your child.
Where:
The program will be located at Ripple Rock Elementary School – 2001 Cheviot Rd.
Who is the program open to:
Any kindergarten aged child- Indigenous or Non-Indigenous – living in School District 72.
What your child will learn:
Your child will be taught the B.C. Ministry of Education Kindergarten Curriculum by two teachers – an experienced Kindergarten teacher and a Liq’wala/ Kwak’wala language teacher.
These teachers will plan the curriculum together and deliver as much of the curriculum as possible in Liq’wala/Kwak’wala.
Laichwiltach First Nations culture will be a regular part of the program.
Liq’wala/Kwak’wala elder participation will also be a part of the program.
How and when do you Register:
Interested parents can bring their child’s birth certificate and care card and register at Ripple Rock Elementary 2001 Cheviot Rd during the last week of January from Monday, January 28 to Friday, February 1st during school hours.

There will be a Parent Information Session in the library at Ripple Rock Elementary – 2001 Cheviot Rd. on Monday January 21st from 7:00 p.m.- 8:00 p.m.

PLEASE NOTE: This pilot program needs a minimum of 12 students to run. We will consider running a K/1 Immersion program if there are not enough kindergarten students.
