Nanwakolas Council has partnered with North Island College to offer a series of marine training courses at the college’s Campbell River campus. The courses are available for free to members of the six First Nations – including Wei Wai Kum – that form the Council. The following is a list of courses offered July 31 – Aug.
Foodsafe Level 1 (TFS 010)

Includes important food safety and worker safety information for the food service industry.
Restricted Operator Certificate – Maritime (NAU 016)

Prepares you for the Department of Communications examination for the ROC-M.
WHMIS (OFA 001)

Saturday, August 12, 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
A comprehensive course on the Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System.
Marine Emergency Duties Small Passenger Vessel Safety (MED A2)

Tues-Fri, August 8-11, 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Covers basic safety skills associated with small boat operation and safety of passengers. Second day will include some training in McIvor Lake (towel and bathing suit required).
Intro to Aquaculture
Mon, August 14, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Learn about the field of aquaculture from NIC instructor and aquaculture expert Jesse Ronquillo.
Marine Basic First Aid & CPR C (FAC-082)

Tues-Wed, August 22-23, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Provides individuals with a basic training level of First Aid and CPR required by the Marine Industry.
