Surveys Offer Double Prizes!

Do you remember the excited cry of the boy Sid in the movie Toy Story about getting Double Prizes? That’s rather like the opportunity offered by two surveys currently open for Wei Wai Kum First Nation members.

Sure, you won’t get two amazing toys, but participants do have the opportunity to provide input into important community matters and they also have the chance to win great prizes. How’s that for a win-win scenario?

One of the surveys is for our Comprehensive Community Plan (CCP), with a version for youth age 12 – 17 [SS1] and another for adults age 18 and over[SS2] . We are keeping this survey open a little longer to offer all members the opportunity to have their say in establishing priorities that will shape the Nation’s planning for years to come. These CCP surveys are on our website or available in print copy from the Band office. Respondents have an opportunity to win gift cards and our grand prize will be draws for two iPads. Double prizes, indeed!

The other survey is offered by the Liq’wala Language Revitalization Committee. The committee has produced 20 Liq’wala language videos in a series called:  Easy Lessons in Liq’wala”.  The videos are available both on YouTube and on a new language resource page [SS3] on the Wei Wai Kum website.

Early results to the CCP consultations show that revitalizing our Liq’wala language is a high priority for many. You can help with this important initiative by viewing the videos and filling in a survey to give the committee feedback about them. Respondents will be eligible to enter a draw on Feb. 23 for two $50 gift certificates. Double prizes again!
