Interviews are taking place this week and next for four positions at the Wei Wai Kum First Nation: the Youth Worker, Elders Worker, Net Loft/Sheet Wall Worker, and Operations and Maintenance Worker.
The latter two positions represent a division of the position recently held by Jake Smith. By creating two positions, the Band will increase capacity to do more maintenance and operations work in-house and to provide back-up for services that are required daily and sometimes around the clock during the fishing season.
Work is also underway to fill summer student positions to support activities in the office and at the Band-owned businesses.
The Band has contracted with Band member Linda Campbell to be the Interim Band Manager during the ongoing sick leave of Angie Sarsons. Linda will start work the week of July 2. Chief Chris Roberts has been acting as Band Manager since May and Communications Coordinator Stephanie Slater filled the position from February through April.
